At a recent welcome dinner for ALG Vacations’ event in Montego Bay, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett praised nearly 100 travel advisors for their crucial role in voluntourism. These advisors play an essential part in promoting Jamaica as a premier travel destination.

During the event, Jacki Marks, Global Head of Trade Brands for ALG Vacations, revealed that over 1,000 travel advisors expressed interest in attending. This overwhelming response highlights the allure of Jamaica. “Who wants to come to Jamaica?” she asked, and every advisor raised their hand. This clearly demonstrates the island’s appeal in the travel industry.

Minister Bartlett emphasized the importance of travel advisors in the tourism sector. Jamaica has made significant progress in its tourism recovery. The island reopened to tourists in December 2026. By this time, 70 percent of its hotel room inventory was available. Projections indicate that this will increase to 75 percent by March 1, 85 percent by May, and reach nearly full recovery at 95 to 96 percent by November. Notable resorts like Princess Resorts reopened on February 1, offering discounts to attract visitors.
