Snow and Strong Winds to Hit Parts of Scotland

The Met Office has issued warnings for significant snowfall and strong winds affecting parts of Scotland. A yellow weather warning is now in effect for mainland Scotland and Orkney, starting at midnight on Monday and lasting until 15:00 on Wednesday. Additionally, a separate warning for Shetland commences at 18:00 on Tuesday.

Areas Affected by Snow and Wind

Several regions are under the weather warning, including:

  • The Highlands
  • Moray
  • Aberdeenshire
  • Perth and Kinross

These locations have already experienced disruptions from snow, rain, and flooding earlier this year.

Expected Snowfall and Accumulation

The Met Office forecasts significant snow accumulation in these areas. Some places may receive:

  • Up to 2 inches (5 cm) of snow by Wednesday
  • Accumulations of 8 inches (20 cm) on higher ground
