Carrick Supports Man Utd Fans Ahead of Upcoming Protest

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has expressed his appreciation for the support from the club’s fans. He remarked that he is “not offended” by a planned protest before their upcoming Premier League match against Fulham.

Unbeaten Streak Under Carrick

Since taking charge for his second stint, Carrick has led the team to victories against Manchester City and Arsenal. This success has propelled United into the Premier League top four for the first time this season, following their triumph over Arsenal.

Upcoming Fans’ Protest

The protest is organized by the 1958 fans’ group, which anticipates between 5,000 and 6,000 fans to participate. The gathering will occur one hour before the match, with fans meeting at the ‘Law, Best, Charlton’ statue outside Old Trafford.

  • Meeting Points: Either side of the stadium
  • Expected Attendance: 5,000 to 6,000 fans
  • Start Time: One hour before kick-off

The organizers have promised “a few surprises in store” for those attending. They clarified that the protest is not solely about recent performances. Instead, they are focusing on a “dysfunctional ownership model” that they believe has consistently failed over the years.

Carrick’s Stance on Ownership

In his autobiography, Carrick referred to the Glazer family as “great owners.” However, this view is not shared widely among fans, many of whom sing anti-Glazer chants at games. Recently, minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has also faced criticism from supporters.

When asked about the protest, Carrick chose to emphasize the positive connection between the team and its supporters. He noted, “I fully respect the supporters. I’m not offended by it or anything, and the players certainly aren’t.” He acknowledged the significant support received during games, describing it as “of the highest level.” Carrick expressed a desire to build on this connection as they move forward.
