MUN Sells Harlow, Signal Hill Campuses, Geo Centre, and Printing Services Building

Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) is undertaking significant operational changes in response to a $25 million deficit. The university’s Board of Regents has decided to sell several properties that do not align with its primary academic mission.
Properties on the Market
The following campuses and buildings are now up for sale:
- Harlow Campus in the United Kingdom
- Signal Hill Campus
- Johnson Geo Centre
- Ingstad Building, home to MUN Printing Services
Operational Timelines
MUN President Dr. Janet Morrison mentioned critical timelines for several facilities. The Johnson Geo Centre will remain operational through the spring. However, if it is not sold or transferred by the end of the calendar year, it will permanently close.
Similarly, the Signal Hill Campus will remain functional until April 2027 unless a sale or transfer occurs before that date.
Financial Background
The university’s financial challenges have intensified. Originally facing a $20 million deficit, the situation worsened with a government order to freeze tuition, adding another $5 million to the shortfall. As MUN navigates these challenges, right-sizing operations is essential for financial stability.
