Nottingham Forest Consider Cuiabano Departure, Target Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas

Nottingham Forest is considering a loan departure for their recent signing, Cuiabano, ahead of the January transfer deadline. The club is seeking to bolster their left-back position, eyeing Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas as a potential target.
Transfer Developments for Cuiabano
Cuiabano, the Brazilian left-back acquired for £10 million last summer, has yet to make his first-team debut for Forest. He did participate in a match for the B team against Paris Saint-Germain recently. After joining Forest, he returned to Botafogo on loan until the end of the Brazilian league season before returning to England last month.
Nottingham Forest is now open to finding a new loan destination for him. Potential moves include clubs within the Evangelos Marinakis football network, specifically Portuguese team Rio Ave or Greek club Olympiacos.
Left-Back Options and Targets
In addition to Cuiabano’s situation, Nottingham Forest is reassessing their options at left-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan from Arsenal has not met expectations, with the player starting only four Premier League matches this season. His exit is anticipated as Forest aims to improve their defensive flanks.
The club sees Kostas Tsimikas as a viable option. The 29-year-old Greek international, currently on loan at Roma, has also faced limited playing time. He has made just four Serie A starts this season. Roma might be amenable to terminating his loan if they can find a replacement for him.
Kostas Tsimikas: Profile and Experience
- Age: 29
- Previous Clubs: Olympiacos, Liverpool
- Premier League Experience: 66 appearances for Liverpool
- Current Loan: AS Roma
Nottingham Forest initially showed interest in Tsimikas last summer before he moved to Roma. The player began his career at Olympiacos, where he spent five years before a £11.25 million transfer to Liverpool.
Strategic Needs for Nottingham Forest
With Sean Dyche at the helm, the team requires strong defensive options. Neco Williams and Ola Aina have proven capable of playing at left-back, although they are predominantly right-sided players. Williams has particularly shone in the position this season.
The situation surrounding Cuiabano and the pursuit of players like Tsimikas illustrate Nottingham Forest’s determined effort to fortify their defensive lineup as they navigate the second half of the season.
