Sjoelers of Northeast Netherlands Secure Victory at 23rd Kleintje Interland

The 23rd Kleintje Interland took place on January 17 at De Treffers in Klazienaveen. This annual event showcases the top 20 sjoelers from Northeast Netherlands competing against their counterparts from Lower Saxony, Germany. This year marked a significant victory for Northeast Netherlands.
Competition Format and Results
The competition is divided into three rounds, each consisting of 10 games. After the first round, players are matched against a German opponent based on their rankings. Points are awarded as follows:
- Victory in a match: 2 points
- All matches won: 20-0 total
After the first round, Northeast Netherlands led with a score of 217 points compared to Lower Saxony’s 163 points. The second round also consisted of 10 games, where Northeast Netherlands maintained their lead.
Final Standings
The third round, using a 20-2 scoring system similar to international tournaments, saw Lower Saxony winning with 195 points to 185. However, it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The final score was:
