100,000 Vehicles Recalled Over Fire Risk

Ford has announced a recall of over 100,000 vehicles due to a potentially hazardous issue with engine block heaters that may pose a fire risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that the problem lies in mechanical defects that can lead to overheating and short circuits.
Details of the Recall
In total, 116,672 vehicles manufactured between 2013 and 2019 are affected. The recall includes the following models:
- 2013-2019 Ford Escape
- 2013-2018 Ford Focus
- 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC
Identification of Defective Units
Consumers can detect faulty block heaters through several signs:
- Coolant spots on the floor or driveway
- Loss of cabin heat
- Overheating of the powertrain unit
- Warning indicator for a low coolant level
Additionally, Ford has recalled 2,633 engine block heaters produced between October 7, 2011, and January 8, 2026. These can be identified by their part numbers: CV6Z-6A051-CA and CV6Z-6A051-AA.
Next Steps for Vehicle Owners
Owners of the recalled vehicles will receive notifications by mail regarding the necessary steps to take. Affected consumers will be instructed to visit a Ford or Lincoln dealership for the replacement of the engine block heater at no cost. The notification letters will start being sent on February 9 and will continue through April.
