The search for the suspect who shot two Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers continues following a violent incident on January 19, 2026. During the altercation, officers were responding to a report of a threat involving a weapon when the suspect fired shots, injuring two officers.
Police Officers’ Current Conditions
The officer who has been released from the hospital is a seven-year veteran, assigned to the North Precinct. The second officer, with 17 years of service, remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The shooting occurred around 8:21 p.m. in the Sullivan’s Gulch neighborhood, specifically at the intersection of Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street. Officers identified the suspect, who fled the scene after discharging a firearm.
Search Operations
In response to the shooting, the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) was activated. A perimeter was established to contain the suspect, involving multiple law enforcement units, including the Air Support Unit and K9 teams.
