Trade Minister Bolat Joins AA’s ‘Photos of the Year’ Voting

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat participated in Anadolu Agency’s (AA) “Photos of the Year” voting, showcasing significant global events from 2025. This year’s competition featured 112 photographs across six categories, sponsored by Lifebox, AJet, and Roketsan.

Categories in the Photo Competition

Minister Bolat evaluated images that shaped both Turkey’s and the world’s agenda. The categories included:

  • Gazze: Açlık
  • Portrait
  • News
  • Sport
  • Natural Life and Environment
  • Daily Life

Bolat’s selections were as follows:

  • Gazze: Açlık: “Food Distribution to Palestinians Fighting Hunger” by Ahmed Jihad Ibrahim Al-arini.
  • Portrait: “Mother’s Beloved” by Mahmoud Abu Hamda.
  • News: “A Sun is Rising” by Ali Atmaca.
  • Sport: “The Language of Stadiums” by Bünyamin Çelik.
  • Natural Life and Environment: “Against the Full Moon” by Özkan Bilgin.
  • Daily Life: “Despite Everything” by Gerald Anderson.

Reactions to the Photos

Bolat commended the quality of the entries, stating, “Each photo is meaningful and successful, making the selection challenging.” He highlighted the value of AA’s “Photos of the Year” competition, acknowledging its role in recognizing impactful journalism.

Support for Gaza

The Minister emphasized the heartbreaking realities depicted in Gaza images. He noted that the Turkish government is committed to humanitarian aid and diplomatic efforts to improve conditions for Gazans.

Bolat stressed Turkey’s leadership role internationally, asserting that the country is making significant contributions to diplomatic efforts regarding trade embargoes and humanitarian support. He concluded that witness to Gazans’ relief and freedom would be a profound honor for Turkey.

Voting Process for the Photos of the Year

Since 2012, AA has hosted the “Photos of the Year” competition. This year’s voting includes four main categories and two special categories, allowing participants to vote for an unlimited number of images. Voting is ongoing until 5:00 PM on January 31, accessed via yilinkareleri.aa.com.tr.

Bolat concluded by praising AA for its exceptional journalism and successful global outreach, wishing continued success in its future endeavors.
