Zegna Unveils Fall 2026 Menswear Collection

Alessandro Sartori, the artistic director of Zegna, presented the Fall 2026 menswear collection during a significant show. Sartori has held this position since February 2016. This show marked the first under newly appointed CEO, Edoardo Zegna, a descendant of the founder, Ermenegildo Zegna.
Zegna’s Historical Legacy at the Show
The collection debuted in a venue rich with history. In the foyer, attendees could view artifacts like the founder’s original desk and historical homburg hats. An impressive oval closet displayed garments representing four generations of the Zegna family, including the very first tailored jacket from 1930.
A Family Wardrobe Philosophy
Sartori emphasized a metaphorical interpretation of a family wardrobe, highlighting its role as a repository of cherished garments. He stated, “Not only because you borrow garments or your son borrows them, but that you can leave your pieces to be borrowed.” This perspective equates clothing to collectibles, fostering a connection across generations. Sartori aimed to convey that well-crafted clothing can become heirlooms.
Collection Highlights
Moving away from the contemporary semi-formal looks characteristic of prior seasons, the Fall 2026 collection embraced a range of historical style influences. Key features included:
- Color Palette: Heavy checks and deep russet tones featured prominently in cardigan coats and sweaters, reflecting the bold contrasts of the 1970s.
- Outerwear Design: Inspired by the traditional Tirolean loden coat, several pieces included broken box pleats sourced from northern Italy.
- Innovative Suiting: The double-breasted suits showcased reversible leather-covered buttons that allow multiple fastening options.
- Material Innovations: The collection included printed herringbone and cashmere shearling, signaling Sartori’s continued focus on fabric development.
The collection resonated not just with the invited guests, but also aimed to connect with a broader audience. Sartori successfully communicated various styles that evoke emotional connections, suggesting that each garment holds its unique story.
Overall, the Fall 2026 menswear collection asserted itself as innovative and timeless, appealing to collectors and fashion enthusiasts alike. Zegna continues to honor its heritage while pushing the boundaries of modern menswear.
