Belfast Airport Launches Major Food Overhaul in £100m Investment Plan

Belfast International Airport is set to transform its food and beverage offerings as part of a major £100 million investment plan over the next five years. This initiative aims to enhance the passenger experience by introducing a variety of new dining options that reflect the region’s rich culinary traditions.

Belfast Airport’s Food and Beverage Overhaul

The exciting transformation begins with the launch of the ‘Soul and Grain’ coffee bar, which opened this week. This new concept is developed in partnership with SSP Group, a leader in food travel services.

New Dining Concepts and Improvements

  • A 300-cover premium bar and kitchen is in development, offering an elevated experience for travelers.
  • Well-known establishments like Starbucks and Burger King will continue to serve passengers.
  • A new casual dining restaurant will accommodate families and larger groups.
  • The Lagan Bar, a beloved Northern Irish venue, will also be refurbished to increase its seating capacity.

This overhaul is part of a broader effort to enhance the commercial facilities at the airport and complements recent upgrades, including a state-of-the-art security hall and a world-class duty-free shopping experience.

Commitment to Local Culture

Dan Owens, Chief Executive of Belfast International Airport, expressed his commitment to showcasing Northern Ireland’s hospitality and produce. “We want to ensure every passenger has a memorable experience, and an improved food and beverage offering is central to that,” Owens stated.

The new outlets will feature dishes inspired by local culture, history, and landmarks, emphasizing the use of regional suppliers and ingredients. This focus on local cuisine aims to create a modern and inviting dining environment for passengers.

SSP’s Long-standing Partnership

Kari Daniels, CEO of SSP UK & Ireland, highlighted the enduring partnership with the airport. “We have collaborated with Belfast International Airport for over two decades, and we are excited to expand our presence during this critical phase of its history,” said Daniels.

She emphasized the importance of providing diverse options to meet the needs of all passengers. This redevelopment will unveil popular brand concepts alongside refreshed versions of existing favorites.

As Belfast International Airport embarks on this culinary overhaul, travelers can look forward to a vibrant and enjoyable dining experience that reflects the best of Northern Ireland’s culture.
