Report: Woman Dies on Revenge of the Mummy Coaster at Universal Orlando

A tragic incident occurred at Universal Studios Orlando when a 70-year-old woman died after riding the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported that the woman became unresponsive during the ride on November 25.

Following her loss of consciousness, she was rushed to a hospital but unfortunately passed away. The report did not specify further details regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Revenge of the Mummy Ride

The Revenge of the Mummy is a popular indoor roller coaster known for its elaborate design and thrilling elements. The ride features sudden drops, rapid accelerations, and various jump scares. Riders are secured in conjoined carts as they navigate the dimly lit track.

  • Minimum Height Requirement: 4 feet
  • Health Restrictions: Not suitable for those with certain medical conditions, including:

Previous Incidents

This incident marks the second fatality linked to Universal Studios rides last year. On September 17, a 32-year-old man died after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster. The medical examiner determined the cause of his death to be “multiple blunt impact injuries.”

Earlier, in August, another serious incident occurred involving a 32-year-old woman who reported neck pain and motion sickness after riding the Revenge of the Mummy.

Reporting Regulations

In Florida, theme parks are mandated to report any ride-related injuries that necessitate hospitalization for 24 hours or longer. This requirement aims to enhance the safety protocols within the amusement industry.
