Ireland Secures Win as Prendergast Scores 53 Against Zimbabwe in T20 Warm-Up

In a decisive performance, Ireland triumphed over Zimbabwe by four wickets in their final warm-up match for the Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers. The match took place in Kathmandu, where Orla Prendergast shone with an impressive 53 runs.
Ireland’s Path to Victory
Zimbabwe batted first and set a target of 125 runs. Their innings was largely supported by Chiedza Dhururu, who scored an unbeaten 42. However, despite her efforts, the Irish bowling attack, led by C Murray who took two wickets for 21 runs, restricted Zimbabwe effectively.

In response, Ireland faced a shaky start. They lost Gaby Lewis on her very first delivery. Nevertheless, Amy Hunter and Prendergast began to stabilize the innings. Prendergast reached her half-century in just 37 balls before retiring. Ireland continued to undertake the chase but lost a few key wickets, including Leah Paul, Laura Delany, and Rebecca Stokell.
