Nate Oats Shares Key Alabama Basketball Injury Updates Before Oklahoma Game

In preparation for their upcoming game against Oklahoma, Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats provided updates on player injuries affecting the team. The Crimson Tide is aiming to recover as they pursue success in the SEC.

Nate Oats Addresses Player Injuries

Oats mentioned that the team took a day off to help players heal. This decision came after a recent game against Mississippi State where five scholarship players were sidelined. The players missing included:

  • Latrell Wrightsell Jr.
  • Davion Hannah
  • Taylor Bol Bowen
  • Keitenn Bristow
  • Collins Onyejiaka

Prior to the victory over Mississippi State, Wrightsell, Bristow, Hannah, and Onyejiaka were all listed as unavailable. Notably, Onyejiaka has struggled to participate much this season, making his absence less impactful.

Friday Update on Player Conditions

In the latest availability report released on Friday, Bol Bowen returned to active status, but Wrightsell, Bristow, Hannah, and Onyejiaka remained out. Oats provided specific insights regarding player recovery:

  • Latrell Wrightsell Jr.: Improving, but did not practice.
  • Keitenn Bristow: Out indefinitely due to a right ankle injury.
  • Taylor Bol Bowen: Attempted practice, but not at full speed.

Team Resilience Amid Challenges

Despite the shortage of players, Alabama managed to defeat Mississippi State, scoring 97 points while only having eight scholarship players available. Coach Oats commented on how the adversity has strengthened the team. He stated, “Us being down has kind of galvanized the group that’s playing.”

It seems that the remaining players have risen to the challenge, demonstrating resilience and teamwork. This determination will be essential as they face Oklahoma on Saturday at noon CT, broadcasted on the SEC Network.
