Ole Miss Star WR Cayden Lee to Enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Ole Miss wide receiver Cayden Lee has made the decision to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after three successful seasons with the Rebels. This move comes as the portal remains open for entrants, allowing Lee to officially file his paperwork before the midnight deadline.

Cayden Lee’s Performance at Ole Miss

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 180 pounds, Lee established himself as one of the team’s top receiving threats. In his final season with Ole Miss, he recorded 44 receptions for a total of 635 yards and three touchdowns. This impressive performance followed a standout sophomore season, where he ranked second on the team with 57 catches and third with 874 receiving yards, contributing to one of the nation’s most formidable offensive units.

Reasons for the Transfer

Lee’s decision to seek new opportunities coincides with significant changes in the Ole Miss coaching staff. Following Lane Kiffin’s departure to LSU, several coaching shakeups have occurred, notably the exit of wide receivers coach George McDonald to the Tigers. As such, Lee is exploring options for his final year of eligibility, with LSU emerging as a primary contender for his services.

Impact on Ole Miss Roster

Lee’s entry into the portal marks him as the 20th player from Ole Miss’s 2025 roster to announce intentions of entering free agency. This list includes key players from the squad that reached the College Football Playoff semifinals.

  • Star defensive end Princewill Umanmielen also entered the portal, impacting the team’s defense.
  • Defensive end Dashawn Womack, who transferred from LSU, has also joined the portal.

While some players have departed, Ole Miss has also begun to reconfigure its roster for the upcoming season. Noteworthy additions include:

  • Johntay Cook: Former five-star wideout transferring from Texas and Syracuse.
  • Jay Crawford: Auburn transfer bolstering the defensive secondary.
  • Sharif Denson: Florida transfer, enhancing defense further.
  • Edwin Joseph: Florida State transfer, adding experience to the secondary.
  • Joenel Aguero: Georgia transfer, expected to contribute significantly.

Additionally, former five-star quarterback Deuce Knight has committed to Ole Miss, potentially stepping into a starting role. This is contingent upon resolving Trinidad Chambliss’ eligibility lawsuit.

As Cayden Lee transitions from Ole Miss, his contributions will be missed, but the Rebels are actively working to build a competitive roster leading into 2026.
