Smosh Teams Up with WME for YouTube Comedy Expansion

Smosh, a leading force in digital sketch comedy, has officially partnered with WME for comprehensive representation. Founded in 2005 by Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, Smosh established itself as a pioneer in creator-centric entertainment.

Smosh’s Evolution and Recent Changes

After the duo parted ways in 2017, Smosh transitioned ownership when it was sold in 2019 to Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment. In 2023, Hecox and Padilla regained control of Smosh, while Mythical Entertainment retained a minority stake in the company.

Partnership with WME

WME aims to enhance Smosh’s digital footprint, scale live touring, and facilitate the brand’s expansion into scripted and unscripted television and film. This partnership follows Smosh’s previous representation by A3 Artists Agency, which was acquired by the Gersh Agency in 2024.

Impressive Reach and Content Diversity

Smosh boasts over 75 million followers across various social media platforms. The content produced by the troupe has amassed over 18 billion views on YouTube. Its offerings include a variety of formats such as:

  • Scripted content
  • Unscripted content
  • Podcasts
  • Livestreams
  • Interactive live experiences

Upcoming Events and Exciting Initiatives

According to CEO Alessandra Catanese, “After 20 years of shaping media and comedy, Smosh is expanding rapidly with innovative entertainment forms.” She emphasized that WME is an ideal partner to help connect Smosh’s content with audiences, ranging from dedicated fans to comedy enthusiasts.

Smosh’s next major event, “Smosh Hospital,” is set to livestream on January 16. This 90-minute improv comedy show parodies scripted medical dramas and requires ticket purchases for access.

In addition to WME, Smosh also receives legal representation from Hansen, Jacobson, Teller et al., highlighting a commitment to comprehensive support in their business endeavors.
