The grant was formally presented during an event at EightCAP’s Administrative Building in Orleans. Lori Johnson, President of EightCAP, received the award, with notable attendees including Cathy Wilson, Secretary and Treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation, and Rebecca O’Connell, Community Affairs Manager.
Following the presentation, volunteers from Consumers Energy worked together to assemble approximately 36 Fresh Start Kits. These kits contain vital household items for families forging new beginnings. Additionally, representatives from Volunteers in Action, a past partner of EightCAP, contributed to the event.
Impact of the Initiative
Since November 2025, EightCAP has distributed around 81 Fresh Start Kits to 25 families and individuals, providing necessary items to help them establish stable homes. This initiative is crucial for supporting formerly homeless residents as they work to rebuild their lives.
