SpaceX Crew-11 Prepares for NASA Splashdown Return

NASA is gearing up for the return of its Crew-11 mission, with the astronauts now an hour away from splashdown. The event is being broadcast live on various platforms, including NASA+, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.

Upcoming Splashdown Details

The Crew-11 team, comprised of NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, JAXA astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, is expected to splash down aboard their SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The deorbit burn is set for 2:51 a.m. EST, followed by splashdown at approximately 3:41 a.m.

Weather Conditions Favorable

Current weather at the primary splashdown area off the coast of San Diego, California, remains favorable. The conditions are optimal for the spacecraft’s return.

Early Return Decision

The decision to return Crew-11 earlier than initially scheduled was made on January 8. This decision was prompted by a medical concern involving a crew member aboard the International Space Station, although that individual is currently stable.
