In early January 2026, Bali welcomed six cruise ships that collectively brought 5,500 international tourists to Benoa Harbour. This surge in tourist arrivals took place from January 1 to January 13.
Details of the Cruise Arrivals
The first ship, Ovation of the Seas, docked on January 1. Following this, several other vessels arrived:
- Le Jacques Cartier – January 7
- Seven Seas Navigator – January 9
- Regatta – January 10
- Viking Orion – January 12

During the peak days of January 11 and 12, Benoa Harbour hosted multiple ships simultaneously. Regatta remained docked when Viking Orion arrived, highlighting the bustling activity at the port.
Capacity Improvements at Benoa Harbour
Anak Agung Gde Agung, the General Manager of Benoa Harbour, confirmed that the facility has made significant upgrades. The east pier now accommodates cruise ships up to 500 meters long, an increase from the previous length of 350 meters. This enhancement allows jumbo cruise ships to dock simultaneously.
Statistics and Future Outlook
Throughout 2025, a total of 65 cruise ships visited Benoa Harbour, bringing approximately 140,000 tourists. This marked an increase from 2024, which saw 56 ships and 107,717 tourists. The trend indicates a growing interest in Bali as a cruise destination.
Security Measures at the Harbours
The Denpasar Police’s Water and Air Police Unit (Satpolairud) has heightened security measures at both Benoa and Sanur Harbours. Inspections of passengers and cargo have been intensified to prevent smuggling activities.
First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya stated that increased patrols and inspections are crucial to maintaining security in the water and port areas. This effort aims to ensure the safety of tourists and the integrity of the entry points to Bali.
