Cowboys’ DaRon Bland Triumphs in Successful Foot Surgery

On Tuesday morning, DaRon Bland, cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys, underwent successful surgery on his left foot. The procedure took place in Indianapolis and was performed by Dr. David Porter. This surgery marks another chapter in Bland’s challenging injury history.
Injury History
Bland had a tumultuous 2025 season, appearing in 12 games before being placed on injured reserve for the final three. Earlier in the season, he missed Weeks 2 and 3 due to a right foot injury sustained during practice. This latest surgery is the second consecutive year that Bland has dealt with left foot issues.
Previous Surgeries
- In training camp for the 2024 season, Bland suffered a fracture in his left foot.
- This injury led to his first surgery, after which he managed to play seven games that season.
Back-to-back surgeries on the same foot have raised concerns. Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones expressed his apprehension. “I’m not a doctor… but I don’t like that at all,” Jones stated. He emphasized the importance of monitoring foot health for the sake of a player’s future.
Contract and Performance
In August, the Cowboys secured Bland’s future with a four-year, $92 million contract extension. This contract came two years after an exceptional All-Pro season in which Bland set an NFL record for the most pick-sixes in a single season, achieving five in 2023.
Management’s Confidence
Despite the setbacks due to injuries, Jones affirmed the decision to extend Bland’s contract. “He has been everything you could ask for relative to his rehab, relative to his competes,” Jones remarked in December. He further noted, “He’s done the best that he’s had to work with as it turns out with his injury. He’s thumb’s up.”
Looking Ahead
The hope now is that DaRon Bland will take advantage of the offseason to recover fully. With the aim of overcoming his persistent foot issues, Bland is expected to be ready to return to the field for the Cowboys in 2026.
