Disney+ Announces “Star Wars: Ahsoka” Season 2 Release Window

Disney+ has confirmed the upcoming release window for the much-anticipated second season of “Star Wars: Ahsoka.” This announcement comes two years after the first hints about the new season were made by creator Dave Filoni. Since then, information has been scarce, though production reportedly concluded in late 2022.
About “Star Wars: Ahsoka”
The series is set in the aftermath of the Empire’s fall. It centers on Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Knight, as she seeks to uncover a new threat emerging in a vulnerable galaxy. The show features a talented cast, including:
- Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
- Natasha Liu Bordizzo
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead
- Ray Stevenson
- Ivanna Sakhno
- Diana Lee Inosanto
- David Tennant
- Lars Mikkelsen
- Eman Esfandi
Release Expectations for Season 2
Speculation had suggested that Season 2 of “Ahsoka” could debut in 2026. This was based on the extended post-production time required for visual effects and other enhancements. However, the absence of “Ahsoka” in Disney’s promotional materials led some to believe that its release might be postponed to 2027.
As of this month, Disney+ has updated its homepage, reaffirming that “Ahsoka” is now listed for a 2026 release. While no specific date has been shared, fans should be prepared for a potential late 2026 launch. Given past trends, a shift to early 2027 is also possible.
Future of Star Wars on Disney+
As Disney refines its focus on theatrical releases, including upcoming films like “Mandalorian & Grogu” and “Starfighter,” fewer live-action series will be produced. However, 2023 has new animated projects for Star Wars fans, including:
- A “Visions” spin-off
- A new series centered on Darth Maul
With no Star Wars Celebration event this year, fans may have to wait until this summer’s D23: Ultimate Fan Event for more updates on “Ahsoka.” In the meantime, the first season of “Ahsoka” is available for streaming on Disney+.
