The Creative Vision Behind Hadestown
Hadestown started as an indie theater project by artist Anaïs Mitchell. Her collaboration with director Rachel Chavkin transformed it into an acclaimed musical that combines modern American folk music and jazz influences from New Orleans. The narrative intricately weaves two love stories: that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of Hades and Persephone.
The production invites audiences on a captivating journey to the underworld, blending industry and nature, doubt and faith, and fear and love. With an outstanding cast of actors, dancers, and singers, Hadestown promises a resonant and uplifting theatrical experience.
