Ex-Blue-Chip Recruit Schedules Visit to FSU

The Florida State University (FSU) Seminoles are actively enhancing their football roster, focusing on both the transfer portal and high school recruits. One notable high school recruit, former FSU commit Jaylen Scott, has scheduled a visit to FSU for January 31.

Jaylen Scott’s Recruitment Journey

Jaylen Scott, a four-star safety hailing from Mobile, Alabama, has experienced a tumultuous recruitment process. He initially committed to FSU on January 18, 2025, during an unofficial visit. However, his commitment shifted when he reversed course in June, choosing to commit to the Auburn Tigers instead. His relationship with Auburn changed once again following the dismissal of head coach Hugh Freeze in December, prompting Scott to decommit.

Continued Interest from FSU

Despite his change in commitments, FSU maintained their interest in Scott. He previously visited the campus on September 20 to watch the Seminoles play against the Kent State Golden Flashes. FSU has enjoyed success in the 2026 recruiting cycle, securing commitments from former decommits such as:

  • Devin Carter – Four-star wide receiver
  • Izayia Williams – Four-star linebacker
  • Amari Thomas – Four-star running back

Scott’s Impressive Performance

Ranked as the No. 154 overall player and the No. 16 safety in the 247Sports composite rankings, Scott is also listed as the No. 5 player from Alabama. His junior season statistics reflect his talent on the field:

  • 104 tackles
  • 2.0 tackles for loss
  • Five interceptions
  • Six blocked kicks in 12 games

Future Commitments for FSU

Currently, FSU has four commitments in its 2027 recruiting class. This includes two safeties:

  • Mekhi Williams
  • Jemari Foreman

Adding Jaylen Scott to this group would provide a significant boost to their defensive lineup.
