Hull City’s Cody Drameh Reconsiders Transfer Decision

Hull City’s Cody Drameh is rethinking his future with the club, according to head coach Sergej Jakirovic. This decision comes as a significant relief for the team’s ambitions in the Championship.

Cody Drameh’s Commitment to Hull City

Recently, Drameh appeared to be on his way out of the MKM Stadium, especially as the winter transfer window approached. Initially, Jakirovic suggested that the young defender was eager to seek opportunities elsewhere. This was primarily due to his struggle for regular minutes, having fallen behind teammate Lewie Coyle in the lineup.

Conversations Lead to Change

However, positive discussions between Drameh and Jakirovic seem to have influenced his decision. The 23-year-old has indicated a desire to remain with the Tigers, at least for the immediate future.

“We had a very nice conversation, like always, with Cody,” Jakirovic stated. “He is happy here and will be part of the squad moving forward.”

Drameh’s Injury Concerns

Drameh’s recent fitness issues, including lower back pain and a knee problem, have also been a concern. However, he participated in 111 minutes during the recent FA Cup shootout victory over Blackburn Rovers. Although he experienced cramping, he is expected to be fit for the upcoming match against Southampton.

Contract Situation and Future Outlook

  • Drameh has 18 months remaining on his current contract.
  • While a transfer is still a possibility, Jakirovic emphasized the need for a suitable offer for the player.
  • The coach acknowledged that player movement is part of the market dynamics.

“Cody is a good player and can significantly contribute to the team,” Jakirovic added. “For now, he’s here, he’s happy, and that’s important for us.”

As Hull City aims for a strong Championship run, retaining a player of Drameh’s caliber could be pivotal for their success this season.
