Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Retirement
On January 12, the Detroit Red Wings will retire Sergei Fedorov’s number 91 during a game against the Carolina Hurricanes. This ceremony will occur at Little Caesars Arena, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. Fedorov, who played as a dual-threat forward and defenseman, is the only player to have won both the Hart and Selke Trophies in the same NHL season. He won three Stanley Cups with the Red Wings and is regarded as one of the most talented players in the league’s history.
Zdeno Chara’s Jersey Retirement
The following day, January 15, the Boston Bruins will honor Zdeno Chara by retiring his number 33 during a match against the Seattle Kraken at TD Garden, with the ceremony starting at 8:00 p.m. ET. Chara, a towering figure in NHL history, captained the Bruins and led them to a Stanley Cup title in the 2010-11 season. Notably, he won the Norris Trophy for best defenseman in the 2008-09 season and has the record for the most games played by a defenseman in NHL history.
