F-35 Sets Delivery Record, Achieves Combat Success in 2025

In an impressive achievement for the F-35 Lightning II program, Lockheed Martin delivered a record-breaking 191 F-35 aircraft in 2025. This delivery surpassed the previous high of 142 jets, underscoring the program’s rapid growth and production capabilities.
Record-Breaking Deliveries and Milestones
The F-35 program’s production rate is currently five times faster than that of any other allied fighter aircraft. This milestone was reached shortly after the program celebrated one million flight hours earlier in the year. Notably, in 2025, the team introduced the most advanced software, TR-3, while continuing to maintain a global fleet of nearly 1,300 aircraft.
Combat Success and Operational Performance
The F-35 has demonstrated its capability in various combat scenarios:
- Played a critical role in suppressing Iranian air defenses during Operation Midnight Hammer.
- Accrued nearly 5,000 mishap-free flight hours during a U.S. Marine Corps F-35B deployment.
- Engaged and eliminated Russian drones over Poland, marking the first operational use of NATO F-35s in allied airspace.
Global Demand and Program Growth
Global interest in the F-35 continues to rise. Both Italy and Denmark announced expansions to their fleets, adding 25 and 16 aircraft, respectively. Key milestones across the program include:
- Finland rolled out its first F-35.
- Belgium welcomed its inaugural F-35 aircraft.
- Norway completed its F-35 deliveries.
In September, the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) and Lockheed Martin finalized agreements for Lots 18-19, enabling the production and delivery of up to 296 F-35s for $24 billion. This agreement represents the most significant production contracts in the program’s history. Additionally, they awarded an Air Vehicle Sustainment Contract for ongoing support and maintenance activities across the F-35 enterprise for 2025 and beyond.
Commitment to Excellence
Chauncey McIntosh, Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Lightning II Program, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments: “We are committed to pushing the latest technology into the hands of our warfighters to defeat any threat.” This commitment ensures that the F-35 remains vital for protecting the interests of the U.S. and its allies worldwide.
The Future of the F-35
With 12 nations currently operating the F-35 and almost 1,300 aircraft in service, the platform continues to demonstrate unmatched reliability and lethality. Lockheed Martin is dedicated to maintaining advanced technological capabilities and supporting allied nations as they enhance their defense systems. The F-35 will remain a crucial element of global security for years to come.
