United Signs Galvin in Key Acquisition

Carlisle United has officially signed Ryan Galvin from Barnet, marking a significant acquisition for the club. The 24-year-old player has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Brunton Park, with an option for an additional year. This makes Galvin the first signing for the Blues in 2026.

Background on Ryan Galvin

Galvin began his professional career with Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday. He later moved to FC Halifax Town after successful loan spells at Gloucester City and Maidstone United. His experience at the National League level with Halifax laid the groundwork for his transition to Barnet, a newly-promoted EFL side.

In November 2025, he joined Rochdale on a two-month loan but returned to finalize his transfer to Carlisle United.

Club Statements on the Signing

Mark Hughes, Head Coach of Carlisle United, expressed enthusiasm about bringing in Galvin. He stated, “We’re delighted to welcome Ryan to Carlisle. He’s a fantastic addition to the squad, and we’re confident he’ll play a key role in helping us achieve our targets this season.”

Martin Foyle, Head of Recruitment, echoed this sentiment. He noted, “Ryan fits exactly the profile we’ve been working towards in our recruitment strategy. He’s athletic, ambitious, and hungry to succeed.” Foyle believes that Carlisle United provides a solid environment for Galvin to develop further.
