Arsenal to Target Striker from Former Premier League Champions

Arsenal is keen on signing Blackburn Rovers’ promising young striker, Igor Tyjon, as part of their ongoing youth recruitment strategy. The club has focused on attracting top young talents to enhance their academy over the past 18 months.

Igor Tyjon’s Background

Tyjon, who is currently 17 years old, has gained attention after making his debut for Blackburn at just 16 in 2024. Despite his potential, he has opted to turn down a professional contract with the club, and his scholarship terms will expire at the end of the current season.

Transfer Details and Club’s Interest

Arsenal has shown consistent interest in Tyjon, having made multiple bids exceeding £1 million last summer, all of which were rejected by Blackburn. As Blackburn acknowledges that Tyjon will likely leave, this transfer window represents their last opportunity to secure a fee for him.

Other Young Talents Targeted by Arsenal

  • Victor Ozhianvuna: An Irish midfielder joining from Shamrock Rovers next year. He is currently 16 years old.
  • Quintero Twins: Edwin and Holger, both 16, will join Arsenal in August next year; Edwin plays as a right winger, while Holger operates largely as a No. 10.

Arsenal’s hunt for a young striker escalated after the departure of Chido Obi to Manchester United in the summer of 2024. Although 18-year-old Andre Harriman Annous has performed admirably, the team recognizes the need for additional competition in the forward line.

Previous Transfer Attempts

In their attempts to strengthen the squad, Arsenal previously made an unsuccessful approach for 17-year-old Will Wright, who left Salford City for Liverpool.

As Arsenal prepares for potential changes, securing a deal for Tyjon would be a significant move in their strategy to solidify their youth prospects.
