Jack Osbourne Reveals Ozzy’s Inspiring Work Ethic in Upbringing

Jack Osbourne recently shared insights from his upbringing as the son of famed musician Ozzy Osbourne on the Leave No Doubt Fatherhood podcast. He reflected on how his father’s work ethic influenced his own parenting style with his four children.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Inspiring Work Ethic

Jack emphasized the incredible work ethic of his father. Contrary to the wild rock star persona, he described Ozzy as having a deep respect for work. Growing up in a working-class environment, Ozzy’s upbringing shaped his values significantly.

  • Ozzy grew up in a family where both parents worked in factories.
  • He often received only one pair of shoes each year.

Jack mentioned that Ozzy always understood the fleeting nature of success. He often advised Jack, saying, “The same people you meet going up, you meet going down” and encouraged him to respect everyone he worked with.

Parenting Reflections

Jack candidly discussed the challenges in his relationship with his father. He acknowledged that Ozzy struggled with parenting, notably during the era when fathers typically maintained emotional distance. Jack revealed his longing for a deeper father-son relationship, highlighting that he wanted his father to be more present.

Jack recognized his father’s personal battles, including addiction, which created obstacles in their relationship. He believes that parenting is a learning experience, where one can either replicate or reject their parents’ methods.

Jack’s Family Life

In December 2025, Jack and his wife Aree Gearhart announced they are expecting their second child. Jack shared that he informed his father, who passed away in July 2025, about this exciting news shortly before Ozzy’s death.

  • Jack has three children—Pearl, Andy, and Minnie—with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly.
  • He and Aree welcomed their first baby, Maple, in July 2022.

Sadly, Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, from a heart attack complicated by coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. His private funeral took place on July 31, 2025, at his estate in Buckinghamshire, England, attended by close friends and family, including his bandmates from Black Sabbath.

The day before the funeral, fans in Birmingham paid tribute to the legendary singer, showcasing the profound impact Ozzy had on countless lives.
