A tragic shooting occurred in Salt Lake City, leading to the deaths of two individuals and leaving six others injured. The incident took place on January 7, 2025, outside a parking lot at a meetinghouse associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

According to police reports, the attack happened during a funeral ceremony being held inside the church. Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd stated that the shooting was not aimed at the church itself and emphasized that it was not considered a random act of violence.
