Woman Faces Charges in Westland New Year’s Day Fatal Hit-and-Run

In a tragic incident on New Year’s Day, a woman from Westland has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident. The crash occurred around 4 a.m. on January 1, 2023.
Details of the Incident
Westland police received a report about a man lying in the road near Grand Traverse and Belding Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 61-year-old man unconscious. Despite immediate medical assistance, he tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jasmine Wynn, fled the crash site but was apprehended shortly after at her home. She faces several serious charges:
- Operating while intoxicated causing death
- Failure to stop at an accident resulting in serious impairment or death
- Assaulting or resisting a police officer
Court Proceedings
Wynn was arraigned on Saturday, January 3, before Judge William Burton at the 36th District Court. Following her arraignment, she was released on a bond of $10,000, which includes a tether monitoring system. A probable cause conference is slated for January 15 at the 18th District Court.
