Innes FitzGerald Sets British Record at Parkrun

Innes FitzGerald has made history by setting a new record for the fastest parkrun by a British female. This achievement came shortly after the start of 2026, specifically at the Exmouth parkrun.

Innes FitzGerald’s Record-Breaking Performance

FitzGerald clocked an impressive time of 15:27, surpassing the previous record of 15:31, held by Melissa Courtney-Bryant. That prior record was achieved at the Poole parkrun on December 24, 2022. By improving the record time by four seconds, FitzGerald has firmly established herself as a leading athlete in women’s distance running.

Recent Accomplishments

Just a week before her record-breaking run, Innes FitzGerald participated in the Seaton parkrun. There, she recorded a remarkable time of 15:47. This was her first parkrun finish under 16 minutes. Given the challenging terrain of the Seaton course, which begins and ends on a pebbled beach, her performance was particularly commendable.

FitzGerald’s recent successes are part of an outstanding 2025 season. Key highlights from last year include:

  • Debut at the World Championships in Tokyo
  • Personal bests on both track and road
  • Winning her third consecutive European U20 Cross Country Championships title

During the same event at Exmouth, Jack Kavanagh set the fastest male time of 14:48 at the Southampton parkrun. FitzGerald’s achievements continue to inspire aspiring athletes across the UK.
