As the new year approaches, the QMJHL is set to begin its first game of 2026 between Sherbrooke and Shawinigan on January 6 at 7:00 p.m. EST. Below is an analysis of the current standings in the league as we head into Week 16 of the 2025-26 season.

Tier One: Contenders
- Chicoutimi Saguenéens: 25 wins, 5 losses, 5 overtime losses (Prev. 1)
- Moncton Wildcats: 25 wins, 7 losses, 3 overtime losses (Prev. 2)
- Blainville-Boisbriand Armada: 20 wins, 9 losses, 5 overtime losses (Prev. 3)
The top three teams remain unchanged. Chicoutimi and Moncton each had impressive weeks, going 3-0. The Armada, however, has slipped 10 points behind Chicoutimi.
Tier Two: Pretenders
- Rouyn-Noranda: 20 wins, 9 losses, 4 overtime losses (Prev. 5)
- Drummondville Voltigeurs: 21 wins, 11 losses, 3 overtime losses (Prev. 4)
- Shawinigan Cataractes: 18 wins, 11 losses, 4 overtime losses (Prev. 7)

- Cape Breton Eagles: 17 wins, 11 losses, 6 overtime losses (Prev. 10)

- Halifax Mooseheads: 18 wins, 14 losses, 2 overtime losses (Prev. 8)
Rouyn-Noranda and Drummondville are maintaining strong performances as the holiday season concludes. Shawinigan and Cape Breton continue to win despite recent captain trades. However, Charlottetown and Halifax face declining trends and may drop further if performance does not improve.
Tier Three: Hopefuls
- Quebec Remparts: 17 wins, 15 losses, 2 overtime losses (Prev. 11)
- Sherbrooke Phoenix: 16 wins, 14 losses, 4 overtime losses (Prev. 12)
- Rimouski Océanic: 16 wins, 17 losses, 1 overtime loss (Prev. 13)
- Victoriaville Tigres: 14 wins, 16 losses, 5 overtime losses (Prev. 15)
- Val-d’Or Foreurs: 13 wins, 16 losses, 5 overtime losses (Prev. 14)
- Gatineau Olympiques: 14 wins, 18 losses, 2 overtime losses (Prev. 16)
This tier has largely stabilized, but Rimouski and Val-d’Or have struggled with recent performance, casting doubt on their playoff hopes.
Tier Four: Rebuilders

- Baie-Comeau Drakkar: 8 wins, 22 losses, 6 overtime losses (Prev. 18)
The two bottom teams remain unchanged. Baie-Comeau is focused on a youth movement, while Saint John relies on rookie Alexis Joseph, who recently scored a hat trick.
