Upper Darby Woman Allegedly Runs Over Boyfriend with Car

In Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, a severe incident unfolded on New Year’s Eve involving a 23-year-old woman named Destenee Green. She is now facing attempted murder charges after allegedly driving her car into her boyfriend following an argument.
Incident Details
According to authorities, the altercation between Green and her boyfriend began in a Taco Bell parking lot located at the intersection of State Road and West Chester Pike. After a heated exchange, the boyfriend exited the vehicle to de-escalate the situation.
However, Green reportedly responded by driving her 2019 Hyundai Elantra over a sidewalk and striking him. This action was compounded by the fact that she also collided with a parked tow truck, which likely reduced the severity of the impact on her boyfriend.
Victim’s Condition
The victim sustained minor injuries, including cuts to his hand and road rash on his back. Remarkably, he was able to walk away from the incident despite the potential for more severe consequences.
A local witness, 12-year-old Musa Hussain, recounted hearing the crash from a nearby car shop. He described the aftermath, stating, “I just hear a crash and I look outside and he’s on the floor, the car is destroyed from the front end. If we didn’t have this truck he would have been not alive.”
Police Response and Domestic Violence Concerns
Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt noted that domestic violence incidents have surged in recent weeks, urging individuals to remain calm during disputes. “It’s a tough time of year. I ask everyone to take a deep breath. Stay calm, walk away,” he advised.
Authorities have located Green’s vehicle and are actively calling for her to turn herself in. Fragments of the car are still present at the scene, complicating the area’s safety for locals.
