As the new year commenced, hospitals across the Philadelphia region celebrated the arrival of several newborns. This joyous occasion marked the beginning of 2026 with excitement and warmth.

Among the first babies born in the Philadelphia area was Elliott Jude Sarnoff. He arrived at Lankenau Medical Center at exactly 12:22 a.m., weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. His parents, Kim and Jason Sarnoff, celebrated his birth amidst New Year fireworks.

Family Celebrations

Kim’s sister, Jaimee Lee Hunter, expressed the family’s elation, noting that relatives traveled from as far as the UK and Ireland to welcome the new addition. “We’re very excited,” she said, highlighting the family’s enthusiasm for this memorable occasion.

Plans for the Future

Looking ahead, the Sarnoffs have exciting plans for Elliott. Kim stated that her son would soon embark on international travels once his passport paperwork is completed. “He’s definitely going to be a world traveler,” she said.

  • Ezekiel Hall was born at Temple Women and Families Hospital at 12:10 a.m. to mother Natalie Rivera.
  • Henry Schamp arrived precisely at midnight at Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital to parents Sarah and Ryan Schamp.

Healthcare professionals expressed their joy in witnessing such special moments. “It’s neat to see babies born first of the year,” commented Ally Torregrossa, a registered nurse at Lankenau Medical Center. She emphasized the significance of these births during holiday shifts.
