Alperen Sengun Likely to Play, Steven Adams’ Status Uncertain Due to Injuries

Alperen Sengun’s anticipated return and Steven Adams’ injury status are significant talking points leading into the Houston Rockets’ upcoming game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Alperen Sengun Likely to Play

Houston center Alperen Sengun, who missed the last two games due to left calf tightness, is expected to return to the lineup. Head coach Ime Udoka noted that Sengun is likely to be listed as “probable” for Thursday’s match. The 23-year-old participated in a workout on Tuesday and reported feeling much better.

Sengun has been a standout performer for the Rockets, with averages of 22.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game, boasting a shooting percentage of 50.8%. His return is crucial for the team as they aim to maintain momentum.

Steven Adams’ Status Uncertain

In contrast, Steven Adams’ condition remains uncertain following a right ankle sprain. The veteran forward sustained the injury during Monday’s win over Indiana, which has led to some swelling and stiffness. Although improvements were noted, Adams did not take part in practice activities on Tuesday.

Udoka has deemed him “questionable” for the matchup against the Nets, which is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Central on New Year’s Day. An official injury report will be released Wednesday evening, giving more clarity on both players’ conditions.

Impact on Rockets’ Rotation

With both players potentially unavailable, there may be increased minutes for Clint Capela, the third-string veteran. Capela has averaged 5.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in 15.5 minutes over the last two games in Sengun’s absence.
