Legacy of The Vivienne

The Vivienne, who won the inaugural season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019, was a dynamic figure in the entertainment industry. They showcased their talents on various platforms, including stage productions like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Wizard of Oz.

Tragically, James was found dead in Chorlton-by-Backford on January 5, 2025. Their family has since established The House of the Vivienne, which focuses on supporting individuals affected by substance use, especially educating about ketamine. John Hyland, the curator of the tribute, emphasized the importance of shared remembrance:

“This visual tribute allows people to reflect on what The Vivienne meant to them while raising awareness about the charity’s crucial work.”

Community Support and Awareness

This weekend’s remembrance event underscores the ongoing affection for The Vivienne in the northwestern region of England. By lighting up these venues, the community comes together to acknowledge their loss and promote important causes.

The initiative not only pays homage to a beloved icon but also pushes for greater awareness surrounding the issues tied to substance use. The tribute reflects the unity of the community in honoring one of its own.
