Widow, Brother Honor Delaware Trooper Cpl. Matthew Snook at Vigil

On a cold evening in Hockessin, Delaware, hundreds gathered to honor Corporal Matthew Tyler “Ty” Snook during a candlelight vigil. His tragic death has deeply affected communities across the state, and this event was a testament to the love and support he inspired.

He leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.

During the vigil, Lauren Snook, Ty’s widow, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the support received. “He lived his life with integrity and heart,” she stated. “If you didn’t know him, I’m sorry, but if you did, I hope you smile remembering how good he was.”

Thomasine Bianchi, who organized the vigil despite not knowing the Snook family, felt compelled to act following the tragedy. “The way that it happened is completely tragic,” she said, emphasizing the circumstances surrounding his death.

The suspected shooter has been identified as 44-year-old Rahman Rose. While many questions regarding the motive remain unanswered, the focus of the night was on honoring Snook’s life and supporting his grieving family. A celebration of life is planned for January 5 at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center in Newark.
