Gatineau Couple Discovered Dead During Dominican Republic Vacation

A tragic incident has occurred involving a couple from Gatineau, Quebec, who were found dead during their vacation in the Dominican Republic. Alain Noël and Christine Sauvé were discovered in their vacation home on December 26, known as Boxing Day, by their son, as confirmed by family reports to Radio-Canada.
Investigation Underway
The cause of death remains undetermined, and local authorities are actively investigating the situation. Gilles Sauvé Jr., brother of Christine, mentioned that the autopsy results are expected to be shared with the family within the next 45 days.
Last Moments Prior to Discovery
According to Gilles, he communicated with his sister the day before the tragic find. Christine had expressed concerns about feeling dizzy and was taken to the hospital for blood tests. She was scheduled for additional scans on Boxing Day, but unfortunately, those tests never took place.
Challenges in Repatriation
Gilles Sauvé has traveled to the Dominican Republic to handle the repatriation of their bodies and secure necessary death certificates. He remarked on the difficulties posed by the holiday season, noting that many services, including embassies, are closed, slowing down the process. “Even in Quebec, we can’t begin the process until we have the death certificate here in the Dominican Republic,” he explained.
Support from Officials
Global Affairs Canada has provided consular aid to the family and is in contact with local authorities to gather more information regarding the case.
