Minnesota Roads Improve Slowly After Weekend Snowstorm

After the recent snowstorm, road conditions in Minnesota remain difficult, although progress is being made. A travel advisory was implemented during the morning commute on Monday but has since been lifted. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), many roads in the Twin Cities area are either clear or fairly drivable.
Current Road Conditions in Minnesota
Conditions, however, are still challenging across central and southern regions of the state. The following updates provide insight into the current state of Minnesota roads:
- Twin Cities: Roads are either normal or partially covered.
- Central and Southern Minnesota: Conditions are worse but improving.
- Interstate 35: The southbound lane between the Iowa border and Albert Lea, which was previously closed, reopened around 1 p.m. on Monday.
Crash Statistics and Safety Alerts
A report from the Minnesota State Patrol indicates a significant number of incidents in the aftermath of the storm. From Sunday at midnight to Monday morning, there were over 400 accidents reported on state roads. Notably, 33 of these crashes resulted in injuries.

Forecast and Future Weather Conditions
Looking ahead, another weak weather system is expected to affect northern regions of Minnesota. Light snowfall is anticipated north of Interstate 94 on Tuesday. Wednesday could see an increase, with some areas receiving one to two inches of snow.
