A tragic incident on Christmas Day in Southfield resulted in two fatalities and left one individual injured. The shooting occurred in the Riverstone Apartments located on Shiawassee Road around 9:30 p.m. on December 25.
Details of the Shooting Incident
Emergency responders discovered three victims at the scene. A 23-year-old woman suffered a hand injury but is expected to recover. Unfortunately, a 20-year-old man from Madison Heights and a 30-year-old man from Detroit succumbed to their injuries after being transported to local hospitals.
Circumstances Leading to the Shooting
- The shooting appears to be linked to a prior assault earlier that day.
- The woman reportedly invited a friend over after this assault, who arrived with another man.
- The woman’s boyfriend returned to the apartment, forcing his way in.
- Gunfire reportedly ensued between the boyfriend and the other man.
Both the woman and her boyfriend remained at the scene until first responders arrived. The friend, along with the other man involved in the altercation, sought medical attention at a nearby hospital.

During the shooting, a 3-year-old boy was present in the apartment. Fortunately, he was unharmed and has since been placed into the care of a family member.
