Details of the Shooting Incident
Eyewitnesses described a panic-filled scene as shoppers were evacuated. “I heard the gunshots, and I just instantly went, OK, this is a scary situation,” said one customer, Austin St. Peter. His concern for his mother drove him to exit the store quickly.
Upon arrival, police learned that other customers had taken action. They managed to disarm one of the shooting suspects, identified as 19-year-old Ashton Marcal Pittman, and restrained him until law enforcement arrived.
Altercation Leading to Gunfire
According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving two individuals near a barbershop within the Walmart.
