Colorado Firefighters Swiftly Battle Franktown Garage Fire Spreading to Home

In Franktown, Colorado, a significant fire incident unfolded early Monday morning. Firefighters from the Franktown Fire Protection District swiftly responded to a blaze that initiated in a garage and subsequently extended to the main house.

Fire Incident Details

Emergency services were alerted just before 7 a.m. at a residence located near Deerpath Trail and E. State Highway 86. Upon arrival, crews faced intense heat and smoke, prompting a shift to defensive firefighting operations due to concerns of a collapsed attic.

Extent of Damage and Response

  • The fire did spread to the main residence, but damage was reportedly minor.
  • No injuries were reported during the incident.
  • There were no threats to neighboring homes.

The Franktown Fire Protection District received vital support from surrounding agencies, including Castle Rock Fire, Elizabeth Fire Rescue, and South Metro Fire Rescue. Currently, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Community Safety Measures

Kimberly Spuhler, Chief of the Community Risk Reduction Unit, stated, “We don’t believe this fire was a result of improper burning. Fires can happen this time of year, and we are dedicated to supporting our community.”

A Red Flag Warning is presently in effect across Douglas County until 5 p.m. on Monday, indicating elevated fire risks in the area.
