Lando Norris, Luke Littler Absent from Sports Personality Awards

Lando Norris recently missed the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, just weeks after winning the F1 Drivers’ Championship. The 26-year-old McLaren driver was away on a skiing trip during the event, taking time to celebrate his first world title, secured at the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi.

Notable Absentees from the Awards Ceremony

Norris was among the notable absentees, alongside Luke Littler, the current world darts champion. Both athletes were the only two missing from the shortlist of six nominees. Attending the ceremony held in Salford were Rory McIlroy, Chloe Kelly, Hannah Hampton, and Ellie Kildunne.

Luke Littler’s Focus on Darts

Littler, 18, finished second in last year’s Sports Personality award. He had previously communicated his decision not to attend, expressing doubts about his chances of winning this year. Instead, Littler is prioritizing the defense of his World Darts Championship title at Alexandra Palace. After winning his opening match, he stated, “I think they know I won’t be there. The top contenders will definitely show up.”
