MLB Insider Predicts Lucrative Contract for Alex Bregman

Alex Bregman is currently one of the most sought-after free agents in baseball. Despite a challenging 2025 season, where he missed 43 games due to a quad injury, his market value remains strong.

MLB Insider Predicts Lucrative Contract for Alex Bregman

According to ESPN insider Kiley McDaniel, Bregman is projected to secure a lucrative contract spanning five years for $170 million. Alternatively, a six-year deal could be considered to reduce the average annual value (AAV). An anonymous executive noted, “His eye at the plate is underrated,” highlighting Bregman’s promising walk-to-strikeout ratios.

Comparison with Other Contracts

Marcus Semien serves as a reference point for Bregman. Semien signed a seven-year, $175 million deal at the age of 31. While ESPN does not expect Bregman to reach Semien’s total contract value, it anticipates that Bregman’s annual salary will exceed Semien’s $25 million yearly earnings.

Bregman’s 2025 Season Performance

In 2025, Bregman played for the Boston Red Sox after signing a three-year, $120 million deal in February. He decided to opt out of the final two seasons of his contract in November. During his season, Bregman maintained a .273 batting average with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs. His numbers might have improved had he not faced setbacks from his quad injury.

Red Sox’s Interest and Future Prospects

The Boston Red Sox are still interested in re-signing Bregman. Manager Alex Cora acknowledged Bregman’s importance to the team, particularly in leading them to their first postseason appearance since 2021. Cora stated, “Alex earned the right contract-wise to opt out and see what’s going on.”

Competitive Free Agent Market

However, Bregman is likely to face competition as multiple teams vie for his services. The Red Sox have yet to make significant moves this offseason, missing out on notable free agents like Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonso, who joined the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles, respectively. There is uncertainty regarding whether the Red Sox would offer Bregman a five-year deal, which could be key to their postseason goals.

In summary, with a projected lucrative contract on the horizon, Alex Bregman’s future in Major League Baseball remains bright and full of potential.
