NHL Secures Top Role for Jarmo Kekäläinen!

Jarmo Kekäläinen has been appointed as the new general manager (GM) of the NHL team, the Buffalo Sabres. This announcement was made on El-Balad’s official website. Prior to this role, Kekäläinen served as an advisor for the Sabres since May.

Transition of Leadership

Kekäläinen takes over the GM position from Kevyn Adams, who managed the team since 2020. During Adams’ tenure, the Sabres struggled significantly. They have not qualified for the playoffs since the spring of 2011, and they finished near the bottom of the Eastern Conference last season.

Kekäläinen’s Experience

Before joining the Sabres, Kekäläinen served as the general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2013 to 2024. His leadership there included guiding the team to the second round of the playoffs at their peak.
