Police Seek Middle School Student After Adult Found Shot Dead in Collin County

In Lavon, Texas, a man was fatally shot in his home Saturday night, prompting a police investigation in Collin County. Authorities are currently on the lookout for a middle school student believed to be connected to the incident.

The Lavon Police Department received a report of a shooting at 8:50 p.m. on December 13, 2025. The location was situated in the 700 block of Wellington Drive within the Crestridge Subdivision.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Suspect Identification and School Response

The suspect in this case is a juvenile, identified as a student at Community Trails Middle School. He has been absent from school since November 11, 2025.

In response to the situation, all campuses in Lavon, including Community Trails Middle School, will remain closed to visitors. The school district has communicated that there will be an increased security presence at these facilities. This includes armed officers already stationed at each school.
