An Indiana State Trooper has been struck by an impaired driver for the third time during his career. This recent incident occurred on eastbound I-465 near Allisonville Road in Indianapolis.
Incident Details
Trooper Keith Martin was performing his duties by blocking a lane in response to a jackknifed semi-truck. While he was on the scene, a pick-up truck rear-ended him. The collision resulted in Trooper Martin sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and later released.
Involvement of Other Personnel
At the scene of the accident, off-duty Fortville Police Officer Lee Carnish was present. While his vehicle incurred damage, he fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
Arrest and Charges
- The driver of the pick-up truck has been identified as Juan Cuatlacuatl, 21, from Indianapolis.
- Cuatlacuatl was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, which resulted in injury to Trooper Martin.
