Oilers Place Jake Walman on LTIR, Announce Multiple Roster Changes

The Edmonton Oilers made significant roster changes on Tuesday, placing Jake Walman on long-term injured reserve (LTIR). This decision comes as Walman continues to recover from an undisclosed injury that has kept him away from the ice since November 20.
Jake Walman’s Injury Update
Walman, aged 29, has struggled this season, participating in only 17 games. He has managed to score three goals and provide seven assists during his limited play. Head coach Kris Knoblauch revealed that Walman’s condition is worse than initially thought, indicating a prolonged absence from the lineup.
Background on Walman
Walman joined the Oilers at last season’s trade deadline. In 15 regular-season games following his acquisition, he recorded one goal and seven assists. His performance was crucial during the Oilers’ Stanley Cup playoff run, where he added two goals and eight assists, earning him a seven-year, $49 million contract extension during the offseason.
Other Roster Changes
In addition to Walman’s placement on LTIR, the Oilers have also made roster adjustments involving forwards Jack Roslovic and Connor Clattenberg.
Jack Roslovic’s Condition
- Roslovic last played on November 25.
- The 28-year-old has had a strong season, scoring 10 goals and eight assists in 23 games.
- His return is estimated around Christmas, according to coach Knoblauch.
Connor Clattenberg’s Status
- Clattenberg is heading to injured reserve due to an eye injury.
- The 20-year-old forward managed to score one goal in just five games.
- He averaged over seven minutes of ice time per game during his brief NHL stint.
Reinforcements from Bakersfield
To compensate for these injuries, the Oilers have called up Max Jones from their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. Jones, 27, was acquired last season alongside Trent Frederic from Boston. Although he has yet to play for the Oilers this season, he appeared in 19 games last year, scoring one goal and adding an assist.
In the current AHL season, Jones has been active, contributing five goals and two assists in 17 games. His return will aim to bolster the Oilers’ offense as they navigate this challenging period with multiple players sidelined.
