Residents in the Richmond area are advised to prepare for winter weather conditions as a morning winter weather advisory has been issued. This advisory is effective until 11 a.m. and covers the Richmond metro area, extending to the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.

As the day progresses, rain and mixed precipitation are expected to transition to snow. Precipitation is projected to taper off by noon. Accumulations may range from a light dusting to one inch. Some areas north and northeast of Richmond could see totals of one to two inches. Furthermore, localized spots in the Northern Neck and northern Virginia might experience accumulations of two to three inches.

This afternoon will bring diminishing clouds, allowing for some sunshine. However, much colder air will settle in for the rest of the day. Early afternoon temperatures are expected to be in the lower 30s but will drop into the 20s by late afternoon. Wind gusts may surpass 30 mph, leading to wind chills in the 20s this morning, dropping to the teens later.
Cold Weather Advisory
A cold weather advisory will remain in effect tonight through Monday morning. This may result in single-digit wind chills this evening, with temperatures potentially falling to zero or slightly below in certain locations.

The week ahead will mostly be dry, with a warming trend anticipated. The forecast indicates highs of:
- Mid 30s on Monday
- Low to mid 40s on Tuesday
- Low to mid 50s on Wednesday
- 55-60 degrees on Thursday
There is a possibility of showers late Thursday and into the night. Temperatures on Friday are expected to remain in the 50s.
